Top 10 Agritech Startups In India helping Farmers

More than half of India’s population, or 118.7 million farmers, depend on agriculture as their primary source of income. However, India has yet to use technology extensively in the agriculture sector. As a result, India’s agriculture sector only makes up 17–18% of its GDP.

However, over the past few years, India has seen a boom in the number of agritech businesses that are democratizing technology and enhancing the lives of these farmers. We’ll look at the top 10 agritech startups supporting Indian farmers today.

1. Ninjacart:

In June 2015, Ninjacart was established as a B2C hyperlocal food delivery startup by Thirukumaran Nagarajan, Kartheeswaran K K, Ashutosh Vikram, Sharath Loganathan, and Vasudevan Chinnathambi.

It was transformed into a B2B agritech startup to solve the fresh agricultural produce supply chain problem for the farmers and the retailers. So far, Ninjacart has raised $164.2 million from Tiger Global Management, Accel, Qualcomm Ventures, and Steadview Capita

2. WayCool:

Waycool is a B2B agritech platform founded in July 2015 by Karthik Jayaraman and Sanjay Dasari. It helps farmers sell their produce through various distribution channels by using technology to manage the whole agriculture supply chain, from farming inputs to last-mile distribution. WayCool has raised $60.8 million to date.

3. AgroStar:

In 2013, Shardul Sheth and Sitanshu Sheth founded AgroStar, a website where farmers may purchase agricultural inputs. Additionally assisting farmers, this agritech business offers in-the-moment guidance from industry professionals on how to manage crops and increase productivity—the $42 million was raised by AgroStar.

4. DeHaat:

DeHaat was founded by Shashank Kumar and Amrendra Singh in 2012. It offers agricultural services like access to agricultural inputs like seeds and fertilizers at affordable prices, personalized assistance, soil testing, weather reports, micro-finance, and insurance. DeHaat has raised $19.3 million to help Indian farmers.

5. Stellapps:

Ranjith Mukundan, Ravishankar G. Shiroor, Praveen Nale, Ramakrishna Adukuri, and Venkatesh Seshasayee founded Stellapps in 2011. Stellapps assists dairy farmers and cooperatives in maximizing their profits.

It helps farmers by digitizing and improving Milk Procurement & Coldchain Management through its IoT-based SmartMoo platform

6. Bijak:

Founded by Nikhil Tripathi, Daya Rai, Jitender Bedwal, Mahesh Jakhotia, and Nukul Upadhye in 2019, Bijak enables traders and wholesalers to discover new suppliers, maintain ledgers, make payments, and access working capital through its app to scale their business. So far, it has raised $14.3 million.

7. CropIn Technology:

Founded by Krishna Kumar and Kunal Prasad in 2010, CropIn provides a one-stop SaaS-based solutions platform enabling agribusinesses to increase efficiency, productivity, and sustainability. Its platform offers real-time weather updates, the ability to manage farm activities, and predicts crop yields to minimize risk and yield better produce.


8. EM3 AgriServices:

Rohtash Mal and his son Adwitya Mal founded EM3 Agriservices in 2013. It helps small farmers who can’t afford to buy expensive farming technology to rent specialization machines to boost productivity at cheaper costs.

9. Intello Labs:

Founded by Milan Sharma, Nishant Mishra, Himani Shah, and Devendra Chandani in 2016, Intello Labs offers digital products like Intello Track, Intello Sort, Intello Pack, and Intello Deep. It uses technologies like computer vision and deep learning to help farmers, retailers, and exporters to access the quality of their fruits and vegetables.

10. Aibono

The seed-to-plate idea, invented by Vivek Rajkumar and introduced by Aibono in 2014, enables farmers to boost agricultural productivity whileselling their produce to shops.

The company gathers farm data using soil sensors, IoT devices, and imaging drones and then uploads it to its cloud platform. The cloud platform is used by predictive analytics to assist farmers in increasing their yield. So far, $3.5 million have been raised by Airbono.
